Mark Brooker, Director of the Manna Center, presented to
Baptist Women during their June meeting. Check out some of
this information and statistics that were shared about the Manna
Center!
• 59% of students in the Siloam Springs School District receive free or reduced lunch
• The Manna Center was originally started by several
churches in Siloam Springs, and was created to be
• financially supported by them, but now only 11% of their
income comes from church support
• 66,000 local residents live in poverty
• When families receive food assistance, they receive
enough food to last one week
• 40% of the Manna Center funds come directly from the
thrift shop
• GSBC is one of the largest church supporters of the Manna
Center
• There are very few individual supporters of the Manna
Center, so Mark has created a new program asking
• individuals to donate just $20 for 12 months
• Arkansas ranks worst in the nation for food security
• 70 volunteers work at the Manna Center a week, but they
could always use more volunteers!
